How to Attract Big Media Attention
“Those networks and connections that you create are very powerful.” —Laura Michelle Powers
Following her intuition took Laura Michelle Powers from being an unemployed, physically ill divorcee to being a psychic to the Stars. Now, Laura has had amazing experiences overseas, hosts a top-100 podcast in the Apple Store, has published eight books, and is also a psychic, actress, entertainer, world traveler, singer-songwriter, and speaker.
In this episode of “Authors Who Lead,” I talk with Laura Michelle Powers about her newest book, Rock Your Podcast: How to Launch, Grow, and Monetize Your Show, and how she landed many incredible opportunities in her business and her life. Also, if you missed our earlier podcast with Laura, you can watch it here: Authors Who Lead Episode 88.
Follow Your Intuition
Laura describes a psychic as someone who “receives information from their nonphysical senses that helps them learn the information they wouldn’t otherwise know.” She believes that everyone is a little bit psychic, even if they might not think of their ability that way—they just might not be aware of it because they just don’t know how it works. Our intuition and untapped psychic abilities are our internal navigation system to help us live our lives in “ease and flow.”
As an intuitive and psychic, Laura follows her feelings and pays attention to signs and messages in order to focus on something creative or new. She also believes in creating opportunities for feeling such inspiration, such as designing your creative environment and blocking off time in your calendar. This is how she went from doing psychic readings at a local coffee shop to being featured in a regional newspaper, and eventually being invited to the “Ron Burgundy Podcast” by Will Ferrell.
In this episode, Laura also shares with us:
- Why podcasts can be more profitable for authors than other media.
- How to use podcasts to build your network.
- How to get free press passes at conventions and festivals.
- Tips for pitching yourself to podcasts.
- Ways you can make your podcast successful.
